You don't tell us which 35-70. If it is the f2.8 version, the joke
may be on them. It almost certainly would be if you were comparing
similar lenses: 35-70 f2.8 Nikkor vs. 35-70 "Leitz" (actually a
Japanese lens, I believe). If your lens is the f3.3-4.5 version,
they would be right - but then comparing the Nikkor CHEAP 50mm
f1.8 E or AF to the EXPENSIVE 50mm f2 Summicron could be interesting.
(I would bet on the Nikkor, especially at wide apertures.) Pricking
Leicaphiles' snobbery is so easy it is hard not to be nasty, but
we must try not to indulge too much....
