Leica has always amazed me for their ability to sell as superior,
equipment that is often defective (the defect rate of Leitz lenses that
I have tried has been rather high), or below expected grade
(wide-aperture performance is often surprisingly poor). In addition, the
reflex body has often been a Minolta in Leica clothes, and several of the
lenses are Minolta lenses - at prices many times those of the original
Minolta bodies and lenses. Other lenses not attributable to Minolta are
also marked "Made in Japan". As a lens line, there is an inconsistency in
sharpness, color matching, etc., that I would not be happy with, given
the prices. I am also one of those who find the rangefinder camera
viewfinder dark and difficult to use compared with a good reflex finder
(Nikon, not Leicaflex - I was as unable to focus a 50mm F1.4 easily on
the Leicaflex screen as I was its Minolta equivalent. Try focusing a
50mm F1.4 Nikkor on an F3 or 8008,etc., if you want to see how easy
and reliable manual focus can be.). Hope this helps.
