They are QUITE different cameras...
The appeal for me of the VX-2000 is the excellent
picture (with some control over its characteristics),
the relatively smaller size and weight, the
AMAZING AF ability, and the AMAZING battery run-time;
the JVC offers (at FAR higher price) no stabilizer,
no auto controls above the most basic, much greater
weight and size, relatively awkward and expensive
powering - but interchangeable lens capability,
control over a wider range of picture characteristics,
and solid "old-time" manual control over focus, zoom,
iris, shutter-speed, gain, and audio. Buy a VX-2000,
and sell it for little loss if it does not suffice, and
get the JVC - after trying the VX-2000, you may fall in
love with it and buy a second...!;-) In terms of
ultimate picture and sound quality, you may find little
difference, and may come to appreciate the excellent
auto controls of the VX-2000 (or fight them, and
go to the JVC...;-). BTW, I sure was happy to have good
AF and AE-with-bias last Sunday, shooting a "wandering"
speaker in dark clothes against a light wall and
sometimes against a window with snow outside (and
changing sun and clouds, with mostly daylight
illumination but with some tungsten. Without
AF/AE-bias/AWB-bias, it would have been a struggle,
with a lot of error; with the good AF/AE-bias/AWB-bias
on the VX-2000, it was easy...
