After careful rexamanation of David Ruether's page
http://www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/camcorder-comparison.htm
I've come to discover that our "opinions" really do not differ that much.
In fact we only differ greatly concerning the audio of the TRV900 and GL1.
Since I have absolutely no experience with the other camera's David reviews
I can not make any comments at all on them, but have no reason to doubt his
observations either.
However I'm affraid I'm guilty of misjudging David! His page is filled with
so much information that I only originally skimmed through it quickly, and
this is definately no way to reach an opinion or understanding of what
you've read. My original observation was that his opinion was biased and
slanted against Canon models, and leaned more toward Sony brands. I was
wrong. In fact he does point out all of the pro's and cons very well on
each models. I can only suggest to carefully read his page. I was reacting
to what I felt was an unfair representation of the Canon GL1 from other
posters from time to time, and in my opinion the GL1 never got the true
attention it deserved. Sure it has problems what camera doesn't? I jumped
to the conclusion that David was down playing it's strienghts and over
emphasizing it's weaknesses. Definately not the case.
I own the TRV900, and the GL1. I love both my camera's. They both have
pro's and con's. There is plenty of room for improvements for both models.
When I first bought the GL1 I was temporarily blinded to any short coming of
this camera that screams, "LOOK AT ME", but after shooting close to 4 tapes
with it, and the spell it had on me begining to weaken, I can now view it
totally honest and unbiased, as I do on my page

I felt an open apology was in order to at least save my appearance with
those who know better on this group. I'm sure that David, being the
gentleman he is will forgive me, I hope the rest of you can also forgive my
recent ranting and raving!
Sincerely,
Jim

All is forgiven..., thanks for the comments...!
BTW, the mini-DV camcorder reviews in question are at:

And, also BTW, I may be adding the new JVC 3-chipper
shoulder-mount mini-DV camcorder to the reviewed group
soon...;-)
