PS-mode looks better on non-interlaced displays, like
computer monitors; interlaced looks better (with smoother
motion) on interlaced displays, like TVs; stills without
disturbing field differences can be grabbed from
PS-mode video...

Yes - the bandwidth and info amount is the same for
both but for the better time info provided by interlaced
video for displays that can use it (most TVs...).
