Gosh, I'm really taken aback! ;-)
People spend real $'s buying the latest magazines to
read reviews of the latest camcorders (for possible
purchase...) only to find useless information about
where the controls are, what color it is, etc., plus
the usual little-disguised rehashes of the manufacturers'
press-releases and advertising brochures... People also
eagerly download the latest press-releases on the web
when a new camcorder is announced, presumably to glean
some useful information... Some of us are in a position
to actually use these little "wonder-machines" and report
on them (and not even charge for the service, it is
worth noting - perhaps you would value it more if we did
charge for it???) and can give more honest evaluations
(not being beholden to advertisers, whose products
are the ones being reviewed...) - and point out
differences, both positive and negative in nature,
that many may (and do, judging from my e-mail...)
find useful when making purchasing decisions. These
NG's and the web, where anyone may publish free of
economic restraints to a wide-but-self-selecting
audience, finally offer the possibility of uncensored
(and free of corporate pressure), free-of-charge
user-reporting on items of interest, and you dismiss
these efforts with bad jokes...! Yes, all ("good")
3-chipper mini-DV camcorders are useable, but some
are better suited than others for particular purposes,
and some do have real problems for some uses, the
advertising hype notwithstanding... If you do not
care to receive this service, ignor it! Opt out of
it! Don't read these NG's - or at least don't read
the posts that so offend you! To dismiss these posts
and web pages on camcorders as worthless is as silly
as saying all cars are suitable transportation devices,
all pianos are equal for all musical and performance
styles and performer tastes, all wines are the same,
etc. In other words, it may be useful for you to
ignore the fine points, but for others, those fine
points are of some interest. And, my feeling
about your comments might be similar to a biker's
(or a member of any other interest group - and, BTW,
this is a video-interest NG...), who, having used
the many most popular bikes on the market, actually
has something useful to say, goes to the trouble to
say it, and some jerks say, "Gosh, you shouldn't
have bothered!", or some things even more inane...
Again, if you don't find any of this of value, just
don't read it...
