(Actually, your question comes up fairly often....) Take the adapter
back - there is no way to TTL an ISO footed flash on the F3 easily.
The exceptions are: the Vivitar 5600 (?) flash, which can have the ASA set on the flash itself, and, when adapted to the F3 with the appropriate Vivitar adapter, will do TTL. The same adapter can be used with other Nikon-TTL flashes, but since there is no transfer of ASA information between the flash and the camera, a default ASA (25?, 100?) may work (but, maybe not). I would look for the excellent SB-17 Nikon
flash for the F3.
