Actually, the non-disabled Sony IR "Night-shot" feature
works well with no filter, a bit better with a red filter,
a bit better yet with the no. 87 IR filter, and the
effect can sometimes be increased a bit more (in daylight)
using a polarizer... Using a pol. + no.87 produces an IR
effect noticeably better than using no filter, but not
"like night and day" different...;-) The samples on my
web page (look under "I babble" for the camcorder reviews,
then under the TRV-9 section) were shot using the no.87.
