Unless you shoot PAL, from what I hear, you are better off
shooting NTSC interlaced for eventual transfer to film.
If you do not abosolutely need frame-mode shooting (see
above...) and 20X zoom (add a good converter to a 12X...),
a VERY noticeably better camcorder for nearly the same
price is the Sony VX-2000. Both are reviewed at:

I liked the GL-1 picture the least of the 3-chip
camcorders reviewed (it is similar-looking to top-end
one-chippers, with similar problems...); I like the
VX-2000 picture the most (for good resolution, tonality,
color neutrality, and for relative freedom from negative
picture artifacting [oversharpening, excessive edge
"stairstepping" {especially on verticals}, etc.]).
