There are (critical...) reviews of the above, at:

I don't know where you got the idea that the VX-2000
has "washed out colors" - it doesn't. The VX-2000
color is about as good as it gets in this level
of camcorder (with custom picture controls to tweak
the picture brightness, sharpness, hue, and saturation
to taste) - what more could you want??? The picture is
also as sharp as it gets in this medium (Mini-DV/DVCam),
with about the fewest negative picture artifacts
(the relative weak point of the GL-1 picture, along
with its lower resolution). It appears you want to
believe the GL-1 is better, observations to the
contrary notwithstanding...!;-) Methinks you have
fallen victim to the great Canon advertising...;-)
To belabor the point: the VX-2000 picture (and sound)
are superior to the GL-1 picture (and sound). You
may prefer some of the quirks and features of the
Canon, but if you are critical and objective in your
evaluations and comparisons of the picture (and sound),
you cannot come to any other conclusion! ;-)
So, there! ;-)
BTW, compared with the VX-700, you will find the
VX-2000 picture noticeably sharper, with VERY
noticeably better foliage-greens (and better color
overall), better low-light image-quality, and much
better sound from the built-in mic.
