You can find a comparison of several mini-DV camcorders
(including the GL-1 and VX-1000) on my web site, with
frame-grabs taken with all under the same five lighting
situations, with descriptions of the motion-video
characteristics, and with sound "color" and noise level
and type comments. They are in an article under "I babble".
To summarize: the GL-1 picture is reddish, and very "busy"
with artifacts, the zoom range is longer than usual, the
sound is very colored, but with low noise; the VX-1000
picture is fairly "smooth", somewhat yellow-greenish,
the sound is good from the built-in mic, and it has
more manual control over the picture and sound. I like
the GL-1 "package", but I prefer the picture and sound
from the VX-1000...
