Ummm..., well, if you have the Sony converter box, the
VX-1000 can record from analogue sources; if you dub from
a mini-DV device with a FireWire connector, you can go from
that; I don't find small flip out screens very useful...;
I would heartily disagree with the GL-1 having better audio
(it is more colored, and it has no manual control); and the
GL-1 will not accept analogue in and spit digital out - it
must be recorded to tape first... Hmmm, a used low-use
VX-1000 vs. a new GL-1 at about the same price?
No contest...! (And we never even got to the picture-quality
comparison...;-) The GL-1 is a nice little package with some
interesting features, and the VX-1000 is a tried-and-true
camcorder with excellent picture and sound, but I would try
both for a bit before coming to a conclusion on preference,
since things that may seem important on paper may not be in
practice...
