For the money, it is hard to beat the TRV-900
(under most conditions, but not all, I find
it is better than the GL-1); around the same
price, but somewhat better in most respects
than these: a good used VX-1000 (jes' happen'
t' hav a couple available...;-) - the picture
has fewer artifacts and is sharper, and the
sound is better; the VX-2000 has the best
picture of all the smallish handicams (you
have to go to a big/expensive shoulder-mount
camera to beat it) and good sound, so for the
money, it is the best buy...
Or, for under $3800C, I would look at a good
used VX-1000, or at the TRV-900; for $5000C,
I would buy the VX-2000, unless there were
VERY specific reasons for buying a GL-1 for
your particular type of work...
