Personally, I dislike the GL-1 image for several reasons,
and prefer the TRV900 under most shooting conditions;
pretty much a stand-off between the TRV900 image and
XL-1 image, though, but after the price/weight/size/
accessory-cost/control-problems are factored in, there
isn't too much of a contest...;-) Comparing the audio,

BTW, I agree that the TRV900 is difficult to intercut
"straight-up", but when color-balanced (and possibly
gamma-corrected), the image is excellent, and easily
cut with other good gear. It does not have the
uncorrectable image defects of the GL-1...
