The VX2000 on-camera mic is "vastly" superior to the
GL-1 on-board mic, though both can be bypassed by using
external mics. The GL-1 offers only mic-level input and
no manual level control; the VX2000 offers both mic and
line-level input, and manual level control (though the
AGC on the VX2000 is excellent, and I rarely turn it off...
