I am not a "Sony proponent", but a proponent of what is
currently the best of type, or the best-for-the-money, very
different things... And, if the PD150 is "overkill", and
the XL-1s isn't (as you suggest), and the PD150 is cheaper
in stock form, and far cheaper when the two are comparably
equipped for action, this clearly makes the PD150 the better
buy, doesn't it...? ;-) And the similar-but-considerably-
cheaper VX2000 a better buy yet...;-) And, also, the
fact that a particular camera is/has-been used on many
great projects says nothing about whether it is the
best in any particular characteristic, or even the best
buy - and I could point out the "pro" use of even the
lowly Sony PC1 in notable projects, but this does not make
it a camera I would recommend seriously to anyone for
best-quality work...
