You are copying not "audio" and "video" from one camera
to the other using the FireWire ports, but the digital data
only. If you made the original recordings in 16-bit, they
will be 16-bit in the digital copies, and cannot be anything
else unless you first edit the material... You may find the
analogue copy route between the cameras a good solution,
with little noticeable quality loss, short using NLE.
