About a stop, with the wide-angles I often use...
The FE/FM release is a bit more abrupt, with a
noticeably less smooth action than the FA's, and
adding screw-in buttons did not help me. At 1/8th,
1/15th, and even at 1/30th, the smoother release
on the FA was effective in helping get a sharp
image in low light. In general, I prefer the FE2,
but that extra stop of hand-holdability the FA
provided was useful enough often enough to make
the switch to the FA desirable for me. I suspect
that the differences are due a combination of a
smoother button release action, and a slower
exposure sequence on the FA...
