I have owned F3's and FA's with LCD's, and have noticed no problems.
Nor have I had problems requiring repairs with my two FA's.
I switched from a pair of FE-2's to the FA's for one reason only:
I do a lot of low-light work, and the shutter release feels softer
and steadier with slow shutter speeds on the FA. Otherwise (except
for meter visibility problems with both cameras in some light
conditions), I prefer the really excellent FE meter display, which
allows precise control of exposure (and compensations) without
removing the VF from the eye (and even control of TTL flash
fill-ratio!), and the ambient-light meter of the FE-2 stays on
when the flash is on (the FA's shuts off, alas....). I am not
into auto exposure, so those features on the cameras are not
interesting to me, but the FA adds to M and A modes both S and
P modes, and has Matrix ("throw-o'-th'-dice" ;-) Metering, also.
Hope This Helps
