I didn't like the rather unintuitive interface I saw, but
more important, if the render times are as long as reported,
and the CODEC problems exist I've heard about, FCP would
not suit me, or anyone else for much but straight-cuts
and simple transitions, I would think - unless they are
V E R Y patient...! ;-) Part of the value of a system is
render speed - if it is too slow, a lot of filtering is
just not going to get done... If the CODEC makes noticeable
changes in the image when it is rendered, part of the value
of using Mini-DV is lost...
If you use FCP, how about reporting the hardware used, and
the times required to render a 10-second dissolve, and a
10-second color shift?
Also try forcing rendering for 10 generations by alternately
brightening and darkening a clip by the same slight amount
before rendering each generation (the results of doing this
with the Raptor CODEC are on my web page, listed under the
"I babble" index at www.David-Ruether-Photography.com).
