No, alas (and the Vivitar adapter does not work...).

The SB-12 and SB-17 are more compact, and the SB-17 has very
useful movements for macro and vertical-photos. TTL flashes
like the SB-24/etc. have a wide range of selectable f-stops,
so for uses other than tele and macro, they can be almost as easy
to use as a TTL flash - and setting fill-ratios is also very easy...
