You raise some interesting points, and it is good for some of us
to realize that many people do have limited budgets, but still want
good gear. If you are willing to give up modern "features", like
AF, "D", AE, etc. (and possibly get over the idea that if an item
is new, it must somehow be better than a used item, or have more
useful features...), there is still a lot of fine older gear that
can be had at good prices... Given the choice between an "El Cheapo"
AF zoom and a used MF Nikkor prime for about the same price, well,
uh.....;-) BTW, there are many fine older Nikkors evaluated on my
lens list (along with newer ones...;-) on my web page, under "I babble".
