This is true - but if you are just playing with the camera, or using
it for monitoring (or for making Snappy slide copies, etc.), switching
off the standby will turn off the video image... Removing the tape
solves the problem of auto shut-down, potential head wear, and tape wear
when recordings are not being mad, but allows the video image to be
viewed.
