Dave-

Thanks for your response about my fuzzy and dark video problems. I
understand about the not changing the incoming digital data flow. I have
refined my problem somewhat...
I have a Dazzle Hollywood Bridge converter. When I transfer video via
either
direct from the digital camcorder or the camera thru the DHB, everything
is
fine. It's when I connect my analog vcr via rca connectors to the DHB,
my
video is darker than it should. To confirm....if I connect the vcr to
the
digital camcorder and convert into the computer firewire
that way, it's brighter. So I'm dealing with an analog signal that I
want to
brighten up before the Dazzle unit so that I don't have to rely on my
camcorder all the time. Does anybody sell such a device to brighten up
with
possible contrast, hue, etc. controls before capture?

Went to your web page(s). Still looking around!

Yes, these are called sometimes "video equalizers" or
"time base correctors" (why the latter, I dunno...;-)
Videonics makes a good one (not cheap), as may Radio Shack.
The V allows changing of color saturation, color balance,
contrast, brightness, hue, and sharpness, along with audio
mixing. You can do the same after the video is in the computer,
but it takes a lot of processing time. BTW, there is no problem
with "wear" using the camcorder for conversion - the mechanism
isn't running unless the camera is in record mode...
