What about the Sony VX1000, Panasonic AG-EZ30U,
Canon XL-1 and that Sharp attempt...? Before that
was the first, the Panasonic AG-EZ1U. Among 3-chippers,
there have been choices since almost the beginning,
several years ago... It is only in the one-chipper
market that we have seen anything resembling an
"explosion", and most of that has been quite recent.

And (not to start another editing-software war...;-),
what about Media Studio Pro, let alone Lumiere...?
Now we have Premiere, Media Studio Pro, and Final
Cut Pro at the high-prosumer end, not a lot more...;-)
