No, but that would be a neat trick (using all those pixels for
image-making...;-).
Unlike the Panasonic camcorders I've seen with DIS, the stabilized
image quality in the Sony camcorder with DIS, the TRV-9, is quite
high, and it doesn't change when DIS is turned off (except in high-gain
situations where the automatic speed switches from
1/100th to 1/60th, giving better color in marginal light levels
since the gain drops some with the lower shutter speed).
