Hi--

Hello David. You stated the type D screen was "fine" (for longer FLs) as are the B/E screens (all F3 or F3 'red dot'). Does the D screen offer any more contrast or 'snap' compared to the B/E.?

Since there is no Fresnel, it is as sharp as one can get without
carefully tayloring the "grind" to a specific FL lens...., but the
difference between it and the B/D may be subtle, and you lose the
ability to judge illumination once the corners begin to darken.
(I was just wondering, as I wrote this, if the "super" HP finder
[the action finder] would place the viewpoint far enough away from
the GG to make the D work with shorter lenses... I my not have a D
to try that with, though.)

Recently got to use the 2-ring 80-200/2.8D. Is noticeably sharper at f/2.8 than my MF Micro 200/4 is at f/4. Excellent color to boot. I also have one of those mystical TC14Cs ....

Ah, you are lucky! It is great with the 80-200 f2.8, which sure
seemed better to me than the zoom macro lens at infinity, and the 200
macros too... Big, though... BTW, The Canon or Fuji 77mm achromats
work well on the f2.8 stopped down for a cumbersome-but-good macro
zoom combination.
