The D-8 signal-format is identical to Mini-DV,
which is digital; 8mm is a completely different
format, similar in quality to VHS; in both cases,
both use different physical tape-formats, though
D-8 and 8mm tape is nearly the same (Hi-8 tape
is generally used for shooting D-8...).
