There are chart tests (and "real-world subject")
comparisons of various Mini-DV camcorders on
this site: http://www4.big.or.jp/~a_haru/index.html
Go to the third section (the one that lists cameras
in groups by brands) and click on what you want to
see. Each is labeled, so once opened you can tell
what shot what even if you do not read Japanese.
The results in terms of resolution for the TRV30
are quite impressive - though I would still expect
a better picture in terms of color and tonality
from a good 3-chip camera (and this is what this
comparison web site generally shows...).
