Many people turn their noses up at this cheap system, but
the Azden WMS-Pro has worked well for me for several years
in all but one location, and there it functioned well
enough. The mics are smooth, but need EQ to shift down the
low end relative to the upper end of the frequency range
(about -6db at 20 cycles smoothly shifting to about +6db
around 3-4K, then turning over, reaching about +3db at 20K
does the job), with noise reduction, if needed (Cool
Edit - www.syntrillium.com). BTW, I use two of these for
"stereo", and for protection in case one channel fails,
though you can also use the "diversity" model for the
protection (it works better in difficult environments
than the single-channel models). Hard-wiring is great, but
not always practical - but it can work well with a
shotgun mic on a hand-held boom (assistant needed...;-).
