Alas, all that would be accomplished is to tell the camera body
(if it has the tiny pin in its bayonette surface near the larger
lens locking pin) that the lens is AIS. The (relatively) accurate
diaphram information that the exact position of the diaphram
actuator lever relays to the body would not be there, so there
could be exposure problems in shutter priority and program exposure
modes. BTW, "E" and AF lenses also are "AIS". Hope this helps.
