I doubt that this lens is not AI already (the metal clip at f5.6 will
hurt nothing, and is on almost all current AI MF lenses to keep them
compatible with older Nikon bodies). Feel the rear edge of the
aperture ring - if it is smooth all the way around, the lens is non-AI,
and should be modified to fit AI cameras. If there are a couple of
ridges that extend rearward on the aperture ring, it is AI.
