Do not attempt to mount a "non-AI" lens on an AI body!
(There are a few Nikon bodies that allow flipping up
the AI tab and using "stop-down" metering with non-AI
lenses, but the other bodies are easily damaged by
mounting non-AI lenses.) If the rear-ward facing edge
of the aperture ring is smooth (without two projecting
ridges), the lens can be AI-modified by whitejt3@aol.com
for $25 + $5 shipping. He does nice work (but the old
50mm Nikkor may not be worth it...).
