All Nikon AF bodies which had (until the N90 era killed this one...)
very sharp finders for manual focus - and with good eye-focus on the
VF screen, the AF "slop range" was clearly evident. With loss of VF
sharpness in the newest cameras ("F" series excepted), the AF errors
are less apparent in the VF, concealing the errors (Minolta learned
this trick early on - it took Nikon a while to do it, making people
think they actually need AF to focus....;-).
