The Nikkor lens serial number, which used to be emblazoned somewhere
near the end of the lens as a (VERY HIGH) quality engraving in the metal,
is now pressed in very tiny numerals into the cheap feeling (and looking)
plastic aperture ring on AF lenses....;-( You should find it on the
bottom of that ring (at the back end of the lens) with the numbers
screened onto it - you know, the one that, when turned, feels like
it has oatmeal inside it. ;-)
