Yes, and no modification is needed. Since there will be no meter hook-up,
you use "stop-down" metering. A Nikkormat manual (call 1-800-NIKONUS)
will be needed to be sure of the body pin placement, but I seem to remember
that pushing the pin fully clockwise sets the camera for stop-down metering.
Put the lens on, and hold down the DOF preview button during metering.
Works fine. As the other folks said, don't try to put a non-AI lens on
an AI body before having it modified (by having the proper groove machined
into the aperture ring). BTW, John White, 1350 Folkstone Court, Ann Arbor MI 48105 whitejt3@aol.com can both AI older lenses, and mount a coupling pin
to newer ones for $30 each, including return shipping.
