Additions:
no distortion 55mm and longer, EXCEPT FOR THE 58mm SPEED LENSES.
ratings:
0 pop bottle bottom, unable to form an image
1 able to form an image, but of unexceptable quality
2 very low quality image - may satisfy a snap-shooter
3 performance with considerable shortcomings, but (if the lens is used with an understanding of those sh.cos.) capable of first-rate performance at at least a couple of apertures
4 perfessional performance in every way, but has shortcommings that must be understood for best use of the lens, though for the bulk of expected uses, perf is fine
5 Darn-near perfect, but with minor shortcomings that can be ignored for the bulk of normal uses
6 Darn -near perfect, but with a minor shortcoming that would be difficult to detect except under unusual conditions
7 Without any detectable faults under any conditions - perfect lens
IF carefully read the genaeral comments and combine that with the number ratings and specific comments, will have good idea of how each lens performs
Try to keep my number system consistent with Grover Larkins, so can pretty much use the ratings across the two ....
