I have not used the 85mm f1.4 AF, but I have used the f1.8 AF, which is
unusually good near minimum focus (better than at infinity in the corners wide-open, and much better close up than the MF 85 f2, though the MF 85 f2
is a touch better near infinity). Unless you have a pressing need for the additional 3/4 stop, save your money and take the f1.8 (hmmm, and I own
BOTH the f2 and f1.4 MF versions.....). BTW, you may find manual focusing
with the slower lens a bit easier - VF's seem to be optimised for slower
than f1.4 lenses... (there is higher VF image contrast with slower lenses).
