Here is why I prefer the 8008 to the 8008s: I rarely use a spot meter,
and find them the quickest way into trouble in metering, though I would
not mind having it available if it were free, but it isn't. In the
8008 in center weighted mode, most of the meter sensitivity is within
the large circle in the V.F. (it is easy to place a good average selection of subject brightnesses within that circle to get a good
average reading). In the 8008s, the center of the large circle is
"dead" for metering (to accomodate the spot metering, I presume),
giving you not a disk within which to assemble your subject values for metering, but a DOUGHNUT shaped metering patch! (I have not checked
this out in the N90.)
