Other than slight AF differences and the spot meter in the "s", they
are essentially identical. Since I don't use AF or spot metering, and
since the spot meter of the "s" causes the center weighted metering
patch to have a dead spot in the center(!!), I prefer the 8008 to
the 8008s.
