I have been using a Really Right Stuff camera plate with a hefty
ball-head (large old Arca B-1) succesfully, though I would not call
the rig sturdy/steady - just handy/light/compact/useable. The plate
has a lip on it that prevents the body from rotating on the plate
when shooting verticals.
Hope This Helps
