The TC14 and TC14B work very well with the 80-200 f2.8 Nikkor,
from about f4, and the TC14C is even a bit better. The TC200/201
is the only Nikkor 2X that will fit, but I found results with it on this lens
not acceptable (not unsharp, but low in contrast) at stops of interest.
The TC20E (modified so that it will fit) gives better performance -
quite good at the short end and middle of the zoom range, so-so at
the long end (uh, where you want to use it...;-). BTW, I have a mint
TC20E, modified to fit non-I/S lenses, available for $375....;-)

Nikon lens literature covers what converters physically fit each lens
(+ often mysterious references to vignetting and other effects I have
never observed...), but these listings say little about the adviseability
or performance of the possible combinations (and leave out older
lenses that are no longer made...). You can find some information
