The best solution (price, size, weight, and AF no object....) is the
slightly better 80-200mm f2.8 AF Nikkor (except at minimum focus at the
long end), and a TC14C converter (e-mail for how to get one, about $500
used) for when you need the additional length - performance of the zoom + converter equals fine primes from one stop down, though focus is not
easy....
