On most TV's you will have a hard time telling the difference, unless
your TV is particularly good (and has an "S" input), and you know what
to look for. For casual use and just for viewing, 8 is OK, but if you
want to edit the tape, or even just copy it (or if you are particular
enough about image quality to appreciate the difference even if you
never do anything with it but just view the original tape), Hi-8 will
look better... (Hi-8 also generally has good stereo sound.)
