It is a good price, depending on condition. It is the same optical design as the excellent 70-210 Nikon "E" MF lens, but in an awkward mount with a tiny focus ring at the front of the lens. I do not like
two-touch zooms in the tele end - they are too slow to operate. At
the short end they are tolerable, but I still prefer one-touch to
minimize that one extra step zooms require: the selection of focal-length (with moderate-range wide-normal zooms, it is often
easier to walk to change framing, but with long zooms it is definitely
easier and faster to zoom, especially when the same ring is used for
controling framing and focus). For a comparison of this lens with
other Nikkors (and others in this range), See "SUBJECTIVE Lens Evaluations (Mostly Nikkors)" at: http://www.phys.rug.nL/mk/people/aue/photo.htmL
(Follow the photo references to NIKON - Don't get too caught up in it!)
Hope this helps.
