It is excellent on the Nikkor TC200/201, though I have not tried it with
the similar-quality Vivitar 2X Macro converter - it should work fine
around f8-16

Since the 60mm Nikkor has CRC, unless it is used at optimum
focus distances and/or smaller stops, performance may be better
on converters than on tubes. Also, since it is a short FL for a macro,
adding too much extension with tubes may make the subject-lens
clearance too small.

This is unlikely to work, since the aperture size of the short lenses
would probably result in serious vignetting, and the thickness of
the added lenses would result in insufficient front space. If you can
stand some front clearance reduction, Nikon's 6T achromat may
work better, though the magnification increase may not be enough
to make it worth while. On a 2X converter, the 60 will give you twice
life size magnification. Adding the extension provided by the Vivitar
converter will increase the magnification noticeably - and possibly
reach the maximum practical and high-quality magnification possible
with this lens (it is hard to find common lenses or combinations that
produce first-rate image quality at magnifications much above 2X - the
60mm Nikkor is one of the few common lenses that will give very high
quality images in the 2X+ area...).
Hope This Helps
