The 6006/6000 will accept any Nikon-footed TTL flash and
work fine (but without the "D" feature, for what that's
worth..., and, as you noted, without the auto-setting of
ASA and AF-lens FL). Since you can set the ASA manually
on the flash (it is for informational purposes only for
TTL), and since I find it an advantage NOT to have the
lens changing flash zoom setting with lens change (I
prefer to control this manually for better control over
the flash light-characteristics), this is little loss.
These bodies have an advantage over most others in that
the manually-selectable TTL fill-ratio feature is on the
camera and not the flash, making the 6006/6000 particularly
versatile with flash... (now, if only the max sync speed
were 1/250th or higher...;-).
