I assume it does the same thing the 8008 does: underexposes the flash
anywhere from an inadequate 2/3 stop to a totally inadequate 0 stop
for excessive "fill" (the amount in manual mode depends on the ambient
light exposure correctness). I find it is much more useful to lock out
the auto-fill feature, and dial in what I want, using that great
feature on the 6006/6000 bodies which allows you to set your own TTL fill ratios with any TTL flash on the camera. Experiment to find the amount of flash under exposure to set for different film types for fill light that opens shadows without shouting, "FLASH USED!" (which is what most "fill-flash" set-ups do).
