0.45 m (1.5') for the compact (but metal-barreled) version, and it
has the same optics as the E/AISn/AF (and is multicoated).

Uh-uh (hey, folks, don't you know that I know what I am talking about,
YET?! ;-) - I have an AI (non-AIS) 50mm f1.8, so I believe it existed...;-)
