Ummm, the 50E Nikkor does vary somewhat from sample to sample,
but a good sample is quite good, even wide open, and the later-version
aesthetics are quite good (similar to AIS). And not bright??? An f1.8
sure beats any zoom that may ordinarily appear on bodies of late - and
the f1.8 50E would be faster, far easier to focus, sharper at wide apertures,
lower in distortion (the 50E has essentially none), better for close-up work,
and smaller and lighter than any alternative I can think of. I would say that it
is an excellent match for the relatively compact FM...
